The storyline of the drama series Tere Ishq Ke Naam centers around Rutba, a headstrong and entitled daughter of a wealthy father. Having always been accustomed to getting everything she wants, Rutba is introduced as being blindly in love with her cousin, Altamash. Despite her father’s objections, Altamash is the sole focus of Rutba’s life, and she is even willing to go against her own father to be with him.
Altamash’s true intentions become apparent after his marriage to Rutba, as he is revealed to be solely interested in her father’s wealth. Following their marriage, Altamash undergoes a transformation that changes him as a person. Meanwhile, Azka, another cousin of Altamash and Rutba, develops romantic feelings for Altamash and manages to lure him away from Rutba. Azka is envious of Rutba and, thus, devises a plan to win Altamash over. Unfortunately, this leaves Rutba devastated and heartbroken.
In addition to the main characters, there is also Khursheed, who is another cousin of Rutba. After the death of his father, Khursheed, and his mother have been reliant on Rutba’s father for their livelihood. Khursheed is a hardworking and skilled individual who aspires to be self-sufficient. Despite his talents, he has always been made to feel inferior and has been subjected to bullying by some of the other characters. Following Rutba’s heartbreak, Khursheed will play a significant role in helping her to heal and move forward.
